Gabby's Ladder: Helping Grieving People Find Hope
Gabby's Ladder Family Grief Center is an organization which offers free grief support, counseling, family workshops, and in-school suicide prevention programs. People who are grieving are guided through their grief and taught how to find the necessary tools to move through their grief into healing. All of the services offered are free to everyone, no matter how old they are.
I chose this platform because of the personal experiences I have had with losing a loved one. My mother became involved with Gabby's Ladder when I was only five years old. I would go with her to the fundraising events and family events they hosted throughout the year. While I was with her, I had the chance to meet many children who had lost someone they cared about and could see how sad they were. Gabby's Ladder would help them find happiness and hope. They made me realize that very few people know how much help these children need and that inspired me to get involved.
The Miss Monroe County Outstanding Teen Program would give me the ability to speak to others throughout the State about this wonderful organization. With this title, I would be able to teach adults and children that there are services Gabby's Ladder provides which could help them during these terrible times in their lives. Gabby's Ladder provides a safe place for grieving people to help them learn to cope with their feelings and find positive things in their life. This title would help me help other young people to understand that they are not alone and that Gabby's Ladder can be there for them. As Miss Monroe County Outstanding Teen, I would be able to bring attention to the importance of caring for those who are grieving, especially our youth.
